Lance Kaminer - Columbia International University - Columbia, South Carolina

What skill or talent are you most proud of and why?
- I am most likely proud of that fact I rock climb. I often have people tell I’m crazy for climbing half the things I do and taking the risk; however, If you’re going to take a risk in life you mine as well do it strapped to the side of a mountain, right?

Most memorable road trip?

-In 2016 a friend and drive from South Carolina to Wyoming. I was working in Yellowstone for the summer, and he was long for the ride. During the trip, we managed to do all 6 day without having to pay for somewhere to sleep once. I was able to make connections from my friends’ friends and family to stay at a house every night, that paired with having no schedule made quite a trip.

Would you rather climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, sail the Atlantic or hike the Appalachian trail and why?

-Whoa, this is a tough question. I can easily say I would not want to sail the Atlantic, I would go insane after a day on a boat. The AT is part of my backyard; it is where I do all my hiking back home. I would love to hike that through one day. However, I would probably choose Mt. Kilimanjaro. I mean come one, that is a dream for any mountaineer.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?

-Oh this is easy. I would choose to stop time. I could still get anywhere without wasting time, I could have memories last as long as I want, and I could do anything as fast as I wanted.

How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

- I am a philosopher in the making who simply wants to climb higher than before, hiker further that last time, and praise God in it all.

- Besides the obvious answer of skiing, my talents include and are not limited to dog petting, cooking, eating, eating what I cook, eating what I don’t cook, procrastinating on homework, and binge watching American Horror Story.

Most memorable road trip and snack

- Okay snack hands down dark chocolate covered pretzels (the Costco kind), or maybe kettle corn .. I’ll get back to you there’s so many choices. Most memorable road trip was summer of freshman year of high school when my parents decided it was a good idea to drive to Texas with 4 children, 2 kayaks, 6 bikes and a lot of bad attitudes. It took us 3 days 12/10 would not recommend.

 Best concert story

- Hands down Kygo preforming at Navy Pier in Chicago. He brought out R. Kelly who sang “Ignition” it was magical, incredible, unbelievable, basically all of the emotions. Who woulda thought that song could have even more memories associated with it !

- Defiantly hike the Appalachian trail. I have some killer hiking boots to break in.
